When was the last time someone told you that you are special? Well, Fred Rogers told an entire nation of children they were special for nearly 34 years. My husband and I were lucky enough to grow up with Mr. Rogers telling us we were special and his amazingly wondrous neighborhood of make believe. When we had a child of our own we found that PBS still had fantastic children’s programming, of the top ten children’s programs for toddlers, six of them belong to PBS, but something was still missing. Mister Roger’s Neighborhood has been off air for over 10 years, but that will change this fall. PBS Kids, Angela Santomero, and the Fred Rogers Company have created Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood based on Fred Rogers work. They are moving Mister Rogers legacy forward in a whole new modern way. PBS Kids aims to show preschoolers how to tackle the mysteries of life big and small with the launch of the adorable Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood this fall.
Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood premiers September 3rd at 11 am right after Elmo on your local PBS station. The show will re-air at 1:30 pm on weekdays and at 6:30 and 9:30 am on weekends. Daniel will also be on the PBS Kids App and interactive games. We cannot wait until the premier this fall!
Disclosure: My Husband attended the PBS Annual meeting as a PBS Kids Vip. All thoughts and opinions are ours.
