Fitcation 2012- A Fitness Vacation for Moms

Fitcation 2012

Let me tell you about Fitcation 2012.  This special fitness vacation for moms was hosted and planned by Mamavation in sunny Los Angeles, California!  Our Fitcation started at the plush Four Seasons Westlake Village.  As soon as I walked in I could tell it was going to be an amazing stay.  Fresh flowers were everywhere and the staff was so helpful and friendly.  The rooms were just as beautiful, and the bed, oh the bed.  I swear that they have the most comfortable beds in the world.  I just melted into mine every night.

Each day we woke up bright in early to get our workouts in before the day started.  The first day we did a kick butt workout thanks to Fit Body Boot Camp.  It rocked everyones socks!  The second day we had a blast with Hoopnotica.  There were smiles on everyones faces as we worked a sweat learning the Hoopnotica moves.  They gave us each a portable hoola hoop and DVD so we could continue the workout at home!  I wish they had a class here in Vegas that I could take, too.  I loved it that much!  Our last workout was restorative yoga lead by @Bodhi_Bear a fellow Mamavation sista.  It was just what everyone needed to stretch, and relax after our fun weekend.

The first day after our bootcamp workout we headed to Dole Headquarters for breakfast and to learn about their products.  They are the world’s largest producer and marketer of fresh fruit and vegetables, and have a growing line of packaged and frozen foods making eating healthy even more convenient.  One of their new packaged foods that they introduced us to was their Dole Shakers that are made with all natural fruit and yogurt.  You just take your container, shake it, add juice, shake it again, and enjoy.  I tried the Strawberry Banana Shaker with pineapple juice, and it was so yummy.  Perfect for an on the go breakfast or snack!  Here are some Dole Shakers Coupons if you would like to try it yourself.  I think you will love them too.

We also learned about Dole’s new Portobello Mushroom Powder and the importance of getting vitamin D.  This can be easily added to soups, sauces, casseroles, and more giving your family some vitamin D.  1 tsp = 150% Vitamin D DV!  Dole also made some of their recipes for us like their  Banana Protein-Pick-Me-Up Cakes and Pineapple Banana Hummingbird Mini Loaves.  OMG! Delish! These recipes and more can be found on their website  Learning about Dole Foods and being able to tour their headquarters was a fun, yummy, and educational experience.

What do you think Dole’s #1 selling product is?  You guessed it, bananas!  One of my families favorite fruit for sure!!

That day we also got to tour the California Health & Longevity Institute that is located inside of the Four Seasons.  Their facility was beautiful and would be a wonderful place to learn about health and wellness.   They offer many services such as healthy cooking clases, fitness consultations, and more.  And their spa is AMAZING!  I could just imagine myself relaxing there for a day or two, or three, or four…  You can even catch the California Health & Longevity Institute on  ABC’s  Extreme Makeover: Weight Loss Edition where participants change their lives and lose hundreds of pounds under the guidance of  a doctor and dietician from the Institute.  We had a chance to tour the kitchen that they use in the show!

The evening ended with a yummy and healthy dinner at Leah and Mark Segedie’s.   Everyone had a blast laughing, talking, and just plain old relaxing! It was a perfect evening.

The next day we spent the entire day sight seeing and touring Los Angeles.  From Venice Beach, Mulholland Drive, the Hollywood Walk of Fame, to star homes, we saw it all!   Our day of sight seeing ended at  Marrakesh for dinner thanks to Leading Lady Bras.  This was my first experience at a Moroccan restaurant so I was very excited to try it.  The food was incredible and the atmosphere was amazing!  Everyone had a blast learning how to belly dance, too.  I think Hoopnotica from the day before really helped us really get our hips moving.

I am so thankful to Mamavation, Leah Segedie, and to all of the sponsors for this amazing experience.  It was wonderful getting to know many of my fellow Mamavation Sistas, learning about health and nutrition, and having having an all around good time!  I have so much more to share and do not want to make this post a novel, so make sure you stay tuned for more Fitcation fun!

Another special thank you to my Fitcation roomie Andrea from  Tales of an Overstuffed Princess who flew into Vegas to drive to and from LA with me.  You are such a wonderful friend! I love you girl!
