Several of my friends went to the Disney Oz Event and Disney tuned them each into fun little 8Bit characters like in the film Wreck It Ralph. I thought they were so cute that I wanted to try to create my own. Now this is not a true 8-Bit, and of course I am not Disney, but I thought the end result turned out pretty cute, too.
How to Make an 8-Bit Picture
To create my picture I used Photoshop Elements.
1. Open your photo using Photoshop Elements. Close up portraits work best. I used the polygonal lasso tool to get rid of the back ground.
2. Next go to Filter, Adjustments, Posterize. I put 4 in Levels, and hit okay.
3. Image, Resize, Image Size. Before you change the width, remember the number that is there. Change the width to 120 and hit okay.
4. Next go to Image, Mode, Indexed Color, and change the number to 8. Click ok.
5. Next you need to make the image large again so click Image, Resize, Image Size, and then type in the number in the width that you needed to remember from step 3. (Mine was 612) Click ok.
6. You now have your 8-Bit Picture!
I love the 8-Bit image that I made of Baybah.
Don’t have Photoshop or Photoshop Elements? Try this!
