I’m attended press trip provided by Disney to the Monsters University Premiere, all opinions in the Monsters University movie review are 100% my own.
Ready to send your kids back to school? Just joking. Well, kind of! lol. Why not send them to Disney/ Pixar’s super cute, super fun Monsters University, the prequel to Monsters, Inc? There are very few movies out there appropriate for my little ones age group (he is 4), but Monsters University is exactly that. It is rated G and the perfect summer movie for the entire family.
In Monsters University, you will learn the back story of how Mike Wazowski, voiced by Billy Crystal, and James P. Sullivan, voiced by John Goodman, met back in their college days. It is Mike’s story, and his personal quest to be a real Scarer. Mike’s dream from childhood is to work on the scare floor at Monsters, Inc., and he will work as hard in school as he needs to to get it done. Sulley is full of attitude and just wants to have fun. He feels like it is his right to be a Scarer since it is his family legacy, and would rather crack jokes then books. Their college experience opens their eyes to the realities of life, and because of their differences, they do not get along.
In the end Mike and Sulley must work together and team up with a group of misfit Monsters from the fraternity, Ooozma Kappa, if they want their dreams of being a Scarer to come true. I am not going to tell you what happens next, you will have to see for yourself, but I will say you are going to meet many new Monster characters (all with their own fun personalities), get a glimpse of frat life, learn about the true meaning of friendship, and learn not to give up on your dreams.
My husband and B got a chance to check out a preview of the film as well. When I asked B what he thought of MU, he said, “The roars were real, but I wasn’t scared!” He really loved it and has not stopped talking about the movie since he saw it. When I asked him who his favorite Monster was, he said, “Sulley, because he is my favorite kind of Monster!”
Head to the theaters with your family today to see Monsters University!
