While I was at The Avengers Event in New York City, I was lucky enough to attend a screening of the film The Odd Life of Timothy Green. This beautiful movie is about a happily married couple named Cindy and Jim Green (Jennifer Garner and Joel Edgerton) who can only dream about what their child would be like. Then one dark and stormy night, Timothy (CJ Adams) shows up on their doorstep allowing light into the lives of his parents, Cindy and Jim, and everyone else that he meets. With so many magical moments in this film I began thinking of all the magic and wonder our son brought into our lives.
I remember the day my husband and I first found out we were pregnant. We were both nervous and excited about the future. Much like Jim and Cindy Green who wrote down the qualities they wished their child would have, my husband and I would dream and talk about what our son would be like and what he would become. Would he be funny and an amazing artist just like his Daddy? Would he be loyal and determined just like me? Would he be passionate, loving, and kind? Would he be a lefty for the Pittsburgh, Pirates or the next Mario Lemieux? We could not help but wonder and dream.
May 21, 2009 our son came into our lives. In our eyes, he was absolutely perfect in every way. Seeing my husband watch him with amazement and joy for the first time was the most beautiful thing I have ever seen. I knew then that our life as a family was going to be filled with many more beautiful moments like this one, and that wish has come true.
He is funny and an amazing artist like Daddy.

He is loyal and determined like me.

But along the way he’s also found his own path. He has become unique and special in his own right. For example, he is endlessly curious.

He has a tremendous sense of adventure.

He is a super hero.

Watching our son grow up is truly magical. It will be amazing to watch him grow even more into the person he will become. The Odd Life of Timothy Green shares those magical moments between a parent and a child, and shows how one boy can touch so many lives. As a parent, I know how much one little boy has touched our lives.
The first time seeing the parade at Disneyland. MAGIC!
The Odd Life of Timothy Green is released in theaters on August 15th!
