Chris Pine plays a fast talking salesman in Dreamworks release of People Like Us. SciFi geeks may remember him as Captain Kirk in Star Trek a couple years ago. Since then he has played many supporting roles, this is by far his most dramatic and powerful.
As the movie opens we discover that Chris Pine’s character Sam has a deal fall through at work and at the same time he learns that his estranged father has suddenly died. He reluctantly heads to LA with girlfriend (Olivia Wilde) to put his father’s estate in order and reconnect with his mother (Michelle Pfeiffer). His world is then turned upside down when he finds out he has to deliver $150,000 to a half sister that he did not even know existed. He then befriends his sister Frankie and son (Michael Hall D’Addario) struggling to tell them the truth. Frankie is a single mom working hard to make ends meet and trying her best to raise her son. All the while his relationship with his mother continues to deteriorate.
People Like Us was a real tear jerker that had me crying until the very end. Sometimes they were tears of joy and sometimes they were due to the gripping drama that was unfolding before my eyes. Will Sam do the right thing? Will he make a mends with his mother? You are going to have to see the movie to find out. I will say that it was a real and a raw look at families teaching that severed relationships can be fixed. Go see People Like Us this weekend, and make sure to bring tissues!

This movie looks so sweet.
I am not sure I would call it sweet, more of a tear jerker.
