Help Achieve Your New Years Resolution With The Polar FT40

  polar monitor

Do you want to make changes to your health and fitness in the new year but are afraid you lack the resolve?  Sometimes a new gadget is just what you need to kick yourself into gear.  The Polar FT40 Heart Rate Monitor did just that for me.  Seeing the number of calories I am burning while I am working out is like that little voice inside my head that says push it a little bit harder, go a little bit more.  After I workout and see the total calories burned it is like getting a reward for all of my hard work.

How does the Polar FT40 work?

Set up is easy.  Just follow the prompts on the monitor to enter things like time, date, weight, and age, and then you are ready to go.  The Polar is like a training computer that will record and display your heart rate and other data while you are working out.  To get that data to the heart rate monitor you must wear a Polar WearLink+ transmitter.  This transmits the heart rate signal to your monitor.   The transmitter is worn around your chest just below your sports bra.   It is very comfortable to wear and I often forget it is even on.

Once you are ready to workout just press the start button. When you are done, press stop, and a summery of your workout will appear.

The Polar FT40 will tell you the calories you burned, the calories from fat percentage, the time that you were in fat burn, the time you were in fitness/cardio burn, your average heart rate and maximum heart rate while you were working out.  All in one little watch! This is perfect to help you keep track of the calories you burn during your workouts, and to help you focus on either fat burn or endurance while you are working out.  This can help you maximize the time spent while you are working out and make sure you do not over exert yourself.  The Polar FT40 is like a coach around your wrist.

All of your information can also be uploaded to the Polar fitness community called PolarPersonalTrainer.com to help you keep track of your results weekly, monthly, and throughout the year. Best of all, this service is absolutely free.

My son loves watching me workout and often joins in on the fun running around me while I do my workout DVD’s.   Seeing his excitement and seeing my progress using the Polar Heart rate monitor will help me achieve my fitness goals in 2013!

What are your fitness goals for 2013?

  1. I just need to commit to working out

  2. I lost all the weight I had to lose over the last half of 2012, but I definitely need to start a fitness routine and really strengthen.

  3. I have 14.5 pounds so far and my goal is to lose at least 18 more by April 17th (my birthday). I will be starting to incorporate exercise tomorrow. I’m starting out slow, but my goal is to be working out at least 5 days a week for a minimum of 30 minutes a day by Feb. 1st. Then I will add in strength training.

  4. I’ll have to check this out.
